Honduras
Honduras, in the heart of the Central American isthmus, was a dazzling centre
of Maya civilisation in the fifth century, and it still displays the traces
of its splendour in the field of arts, sciences and mind. From that glorious
past, numerous representations of Yum Kaax, the god of harvests, yielding
to the pleasure of smoking or offering tobacco, have come down through the
ages. That is where Maya Selva created Flor de Selva, to perpetuate elegantly
the spirit and the age-old traditions of that blessed cigar land.
The land
Honduras, “depths”, that was the name given by Christopher Columbus
more than 500 years ago to the country of rich valleys, plateaux and humid
forests just discovered. That is where, nourished by the red and fertile land
of the high valleys of Jamastran, gorged on sunlight freshened by crystalline
air of the mountains, every season, at the end of five months of daily, delicate
and demanding care, there is a rebirth of green and fleshy tobacco leaves
with a woody taste, marked by the subtle and balanced aromas characterising
the Flor de Selva personality.
The Blend
Flor de Selva is the promises of a land, Honduras, sublimated by the irreplaceable talent of the maestro de liga. An artist, chemist and alchemist, he is more able than anybody to select the finest whole leaves from each harvest, to blend, to measure, to marry, to harmonize, with infinite precision and patience, the tastes and odours of each one, distilling – thanks to his combination – here some mystery, there some note of tenderness and sensuality, to reveal the quintessence of Honduran tobacco in an exceptional aromatic development.
